I’ve made some progress on the outline of my short story. It’s my attempt at a crime fiction story involving detectives and law enforcement. I wanted to take a shot at it since I like crime stories and love the complex storylines of Grand Theft Auto. The story has been progressing pretty well although I don’t intend it to be all that long. It’s not going to be the length of a novel or anything but I wanted to see how the plot and the writing would turn out in this short story.
Another story genre I’ve gotten into ever since I played Red Dead Redemption II is westerns. I read a book by Louis L’Amour, one of the most prolific western writers of all time, and while I can’t say I’ve fallen in love with everything western, I’ve grown to like the genre and find myself wanting to go back to that time. Obviously, it’s easy for someone in 2019 to say they’d want to do that no knowing firsthand the hardships faced by people in that day and age but I liked the small town, nomadic, and living off the land aspects of that time which were so common those days. The simplicity and connection with nature back then I find intriguing and I think a lot of other people do as well considering the popularity of the Red Dead Redemption series of games and how well western novels and movies were over the years.
